astrology camp 15 - 19 august '11
guest leader
Jonathan Cainer
Jonathan Cainer began life as a bass player and writer of humorous books. He started studying astrology in 1980 and has been writing a daily zodiac forecast column since 1986. These forecasts appear on his website, cainer.com and in various newspapers round the world including Britain, Australia, Japan, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand.
More
Jonathan works with date, time and place of birth wherever possible... although he is best known for his simplified ‘Sun Sign’ predictions. This places him at the centre of a small storm of controversy in some astrological circles. He says we are welcome to ask him questions (as long as we don't expect intelligent answers!).

More
He has coordinated astrology camps and feasts for many years and has written several key books. Astrology and Compassion the Convenient Truth makes a powerful case for the central role of astrology in 21st century ideas and society. His study Economy, Ecology and Kindness (2009), compares astro-cycles with market theories and actions - especially between 1979 and 2024.
His specialty talks and teachings:
Will our Cardinal and Mutable Future be for Good or Ill?
From 2010-15, outer planetary cardinal tension increasingly focuses upon Uranus square Pluto. During 2011/2, Neptune and Chiron enter Pisces in opposition to Regulus (then in Virgo); not leaving until 2018 and 2025. We will study what happened when these outer planets were similarly together in the past; and then use this history to illustrate what the 2010s may have in store culturally, socially, politically and economically. Will there be fascism or understanding, war or peace? Is there a special role that the UK and USA can play?
World Economy & Astro-Cycles - 1979-2024
How did financial astrologers forecast the 2008 global crisis several years in advance? Have world economic policies since 2008 solved the crisis or merely delayed and made it worse? Roy will interpret the astro-cycles until 2024. What realities are the outer-planetary planetary patterns of Pluto in Capricorn period forcing upon? What role may ecological realities and disasters play? Is East Asian prosperity as secure as it seems? Do the astro-cycles suggest growth is a source of salvation, or a barrier to genuine prosperity and happiness?
Astrology, Karma and Reincarnation - Zodiac Meaning as a Source of Liberation
The Tibetan Wheel of Life describes attachment to existence through 12 dependant links, whose meanings correspond to the negative expression of the signs of the zodiac. Roy will explain these connections, and then show how the whole birth chart can be seen as a diagrammatic representation of birth karma, and the secondary and transiting planets karmic ripening. He will explain how acting on a proper understanding of these connections can bring liberation in this and future lifetimes.
Taking Ownership of Our Lives and Our World
Roy will describe how he approaches personal sessions with clients, helping them to use astrology to liberate their decisions and take control of their personal and social lives. How can we ensure the technical astrology information helps, and does not hinder the consultation? What are the advantages and disadvantages of listening at each stage in the session? When and how should we close it?

The Astrological Houses, Signs, rullership and the chart - The signs and the houses have always been intrinsically linked and understanding their relationship is crucial to chart readings, whether it be natal, mundane or horary.
We will look at the wheel of the sky and at differing house systems and why this might matter depending on the type of astrology you are undertaking.
More
Sedna: the lonely watcher - Since the discovery of Sedna in 2003, some work has been done on the astrological implications of this distant wanderer. With an orbit of between 11,800 and 12,100 it’s significance in a natal chart appears to depend on house placement and aspects.
We will be looking at the mythology of this planet and exploring various meanings and how this help us with aspects of the human condition and cast light on modern psychological astrological interpretations.
Linda Day
Linda has been an astrologer for over 20 years. She runs astrology groups and experimental workshops including Astro Drama, has coordinated Astrology camps herself and has also worked as a guest astrologer at various different camps. Linda works with the Wheel of Astrologers doing personal readings at different events including Glastonbury festival.
More
Linda has always had a fascination of the stars and as a child could identify the plough. In the early 80’s, she visited India and learnt about the planet of the day and the Indian’s fascination with astrology. On her return, she met a group of astrologers who read her chart and recommended a few books to read and from that point onwards there was no looking back.
Linda began her study of astrology with an ILEA adult course and then went on to study with the Faculty of Astrology. She holds a qualification in chart calculations, with distinctions. For five years, she worked as a volunteer for the astrology study centre, Urania Trust, answering queries about astrology and helping to sort out the library.
In 1990, Linda went to her first Rainbow Circle Astrology Camp and gave workshops the following year. This eventually led to her being a coordinator of the Astrology Camp. She was also part of a group who had astrological supervision and under went two years of personal counseling with an astrological councilor.
Over the past 17 years, she has run numerous astrology groups and experimental workshops, including Astrodrama. She works with the planet of the day and helps people to connect to their charts by making astrological shrines. By building a shrine to a particular planet, Linda helps ground the energy and encourages a personal contact with that planet, especially helpful when experiencing a difficult transit.
Linda has visited many sacred sites in England, Europe and worldwide, which has enhanced her knowledge and understanding of astrology and astronomy and helped her connect to the cycle of the seasons. Astrology is very much part of her every day life.
Linda gives professional chart readings from her home and over the phone and runs various different astrology workshops.
