Power in Our Voices Heartsong and Rainforest chants. 'Re-kindling the perpetual choirs'.
Beautiful chants in 4 part harmony sung in an intimate, deep and friendly space, with the specific intention of creating a healing oasis . Healing will be invited on many levels; physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental. No singing experience needed.
Healing Drum An exploration of the power of rhythm as a tool for healing. Working with sacred ritual rhyhtms from the African tradition. No previous experience needed. Some loan drums available but bring one if you can.
Jo Pitcairn
Jo will lead Movement as an emotional exploration, which can often help release inner blocks and tensions, bringing us more in touch with our embodied selves.
Nesta Burgess
Nesta will lead Yoga and Tea Ceremony.
She's been practicing yoga for 10 years, (her main influences being Sivananda and Ashtanga yoga styles), and started teaching 5 years ago in children's camps and later Unicorn Camps, and has led regular classes in her home country, Lithuania.
Each practice will consist of breathing exercises and traditional physical exercises - asanas. There will be a chance to focus more on the group’s particular needs like dealing with back pains, strengthening specific areas of the body, relieving stress, etc. and perhaps, if time allows, individual tutoring sessions.
Nesta is also trained in Chinese Tea Ceremony – a beautiful meditative space bringing together the Chinese ritual of drinking tea with the accompanying legends.
Richard Grey
7 Words, Sufism, Tantra, Toltec teachings and Augusto Boal's methods are the inspiration behind this exciting new approach to exploring who we are and why we do what we do. Behaviour that participants want to change is brought to light and then transformed and experienced by acting out different ways of being. The wisdom of each group, its stories, individual's creativity and courage are used to create new futures.
7 Words Theatre works with 7 basic instincts or impulses - rejection, curiosity, giving, leaving, asking, forgiveness, and acceptance. Images of these are created with our bodies and then used in all sorts of ways to highlight the impact of these driving forces within our lives. "When all is said and done, there's a lot more said than done". In 7 Words Theatre we do as much doing as we do talking - and usually a lot more doing!
If you'd like ...
- Greater clarity about situations you want to change
- Other ways to look at things and alternative ways to respond
- An increased sense of self-worth
- The ability to transform inner and outer conflicts in a moment
- Understanding how to apply what's learned in 'real' life
- Relief and release from guilt and blame
- A relaxed sense of trusting that all is well
... come to 7 Words Theatre. It's powerful and fun!
Jo Hanstead
Jo has been involved in DUP and sufism for 20 years. She is a musician for circle dance and DUP, and a sometime dance leader and creator.
She facilitates hands-on workshops at Unicorn camps and in the outside world, where she works as a McTimoney chiropractor and craniosacral therapist.
She offers space to experience and practice simple hands-on techniques, which can be taken home and used on family and friends. The field effect of being on camp enhances the healing effect of the work, and most participants have a powerful experience as both giver and receiver. She lives in Frome with her cat Oscar.
Martin Solomon
"Martin Solomon will be playing his healing, angelic, meditative style of harp playing around the camp.
He specialises in playing music from the Celtic and Jewish traditions and will also run beginner's workshops so people can try out this beautiful, ancient instrument."
