Natural Voice Practitioners
The Natural Voice Practitioners' Network is an organisation for practitioners who share a common philosophy and approach to voice work. They believe that singing is everyone's birthright and are committed to teaching styles that are accepting and inclusive of all, regardless of musical experience and ability.
Nickomo and Rasullah
Nickomo and Rasullah Clarke share an interest in the diversity of global harmony and singing styles. Nickomo is a musician, singer, composer and choir leader and has become particularly well known for his ‘Harmonic Temple’ pieces.
More
He arranges a lot of material for choirs and has produced a number of books of music and CDs. Rasullah has been a Dances of Universal Peace teacher since 1987 and this has made her aware of the way people from all spiritual traditions of the world use song to touch in with their deepest selves for prayer, praise and healing. Rasullah is an astrologer and sees clients for personal consultations as well as teaching classes on astrology. Browse their website for Nickomo and Rasullah's workshops and events and to find out more about them.

Muiz Brinkerhoff
Muiz was formally initiated on the path of sufism in 1975, within the Sufi Islamia Ruhaniat Society, certified as a Leader of the Dances of Universal Peace in 1979, and raised to the post of Sheikh (teacher) in 1996. The Ruhaniat was established by Murshid S.A.M. in the late '60s (see Spiritual Lineage of the Dances), and is an eclectic, and particularly American, embodiment of several of the more traditional Indian and middle eastern sufi schools of experiential spiritual growth and development.
More
For 6 years in San Francisco, under the direct guidance of his two initiators, both senior disciples of Murshid S.A.M., Murshid Wali Ali Meyer and Murshid Moineddin Jablonski (the spiritual successor of Murshid S.A.M. and previous head of the Ruhaniat), Muiz was trained in a variety of sufi subjects, including spiritual dance and walk, breath practice, wazifa (mantra), zikr (remembrance of the Divine through repetition of the Sacred Names), concentration, magnetism and attunement.
For the past 20 years, at classes, seminars and retreats, both individually and as a staff member for the Ruhaniat, and for 5 years with PeaceWorks: International Center for the Dances of Universal Peace, he has presented the Dances, led sufi spiritual practice, and assisted with the training of other Dance leaders in California, Hawai'i, New Mexico, Minnesota, Washington state, and Washington DC.
Muiz' sufi work is informed and deepened by a wide variety of interests and talents from other areas of his life including: 10 years of his own psychological and psychic healing and integration using the personal, inner-growth work developed by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross, and the 3-Selves/Huna system taught by Rev. Frida Waterhouse; 7 years working with Both Sides Now, Maui's gay, bisexual, lesbian social, educational and community outreach organization; 4 years of very active HIV/AIDS education, prevention, counseling and support, including co-founding the Maui AIDS Foundation.
For what it is worth, having been out of the closet since 1975, Muiz probably holds the distinction of being the first openly gay/queer man to be confirmed as a Sheikh in any formal Sufi Order.
Tribal Spirit Drumming
Tribal Spirit Drumming offers an holistic approach to community music, at its root the use of the drum, chant, and simple ritual specifically as powerful tools for healing, personal growth, and empowerment.
Tribal Spirit centres on the creation of space for the ingestion of healthy positive nutrition* with the focus on naturally produced music usually of tribal or spiritual background, and the selection and exploration of pieces of music, simple ritual, and games with these healing concepts in mind.
Jane Flood
Jane has been a professional storyteller since 1990 and now has a word hoard of over 400 traditional tales that have been collected, crafted and told on numerous occasions. For her there is sorcery, alchemy and a sharing of images is storytelling which is not found in any other art form.
More
She has travelled to Nepal, Tibet, East Africa, and South America collecting and telling stories but her recent work has bought her closer to home.
In the last five years she has been storyteller in residence for both the Mendip Hills and the Blackdown Hills AONB's and these two projects have reformed the way she now works.
Stories of our land, our place and our relationship with it are informing her current projects and she is fast gaining a reputation for work, in, on and of the land.
Her real passion is story and landscape, the way we, as humans relate to the land and all its other inhabitants and then translate this relationship into story.
Jane believes that if we can learn to listen to the land in the same way as we listen to a good story, well told, then we might have a new understanding of how to respond to the earth and the crisis we are facing with real reciprocal sensitivity.
Lammas
Lammas aims to show that it is totally possible to live a modern lifestyle which does not cost the earth. The vision is that of a flourishing community of land-based projects working together and playing a key role in society’s shift toward a greener future. MoreLow impact development provides an unprecedented opportunity for the repopulation of the countryside by people committed to land-based environmentally conscious living. It provides a framework for the earthright management of the land on a human scale.
We, as human beings, are dependant on the earth for our needs. We are an intrinsic part of the web of life, indeed we hold a privileged position. With good stewardship the potential for diversity and abundance is enormous. We believe this can best be achieved by bringing together the enlightened management of our natural world and integrating it with the management of the land to meet our own needs. This requires a personal and intimate connection with our environment, and requires people living and working with the natural rhythms and cycles that form our world.
Lammas aims to facilitate the emergence of a bioregional network, based on the principles of sustainability and ethical stewardship of the land and its resources. It will include people from all walks of life and from the many professions and livelihoods that contribute to a healthy society. It will be firmly rooted in the very land upon which it thrives. It will embrace tradition, diversity and innovation. It is our conviction that true wealth stems from the earth and that a local economy based on the skillful use of local, natural resources will provide the best foundation for a sustainable future.
Philip O'Donohoe
I once put an advertisement in a dance journal "Have guitar: will travel". Little did I know what I was letting myself in for! I now give seminars, workshops and dance trainings throughout the UK and internationally…so begins Philip’s (Tansen to some of us) story of his journey through the world of DUP and Sufism.

Emma Harris
I come from a musical family and was brought up on a combination of Reggae and Mowtown. I started singing at the tender age of five when I went to primary school in North Wales. My headmaster noticed in assembly that I could sing in tune and from there on I was encouraged to do solo's in church and school concerts.

Oak Dragon School

Oak Dragon represents many things to different people. Community, deep-magic, organic ceremony and the creation of sacred space are all aspects of Oak Dragon’s purpose. At the centre of it all though, Oak Dragon is one thing and one thing only it is a place of education, a place for us to learn both about our selves, and each other.
Oak Dragon began as an out-door educational organisation with the original vision of a large committed family, a tribe of people with shared aims, gathered serendipitously from all walks of life and many beliefs drawing in increasing numbers of people, who are able to rise to their full stature through such an involvement, through carrying out such service.
The vision was to create a University on the Green Earth School of Initiation into the Mystery Traditions;. Now in our twentieth year we are holding true to that vision. It is no longer satisfactory to only gather for short periods of time in the summer months. The Oak Dragon has grown in twenty years and is now seeking something more, something new and innovative.
We are at the beginning of a project that is unparalleled in its proportion. We have begun creating the foundations of the School at the magical outpost of Elfane in the West of Wales. This however, is only the beginning. Although Elfane will always remain the Dragon’s Nest, within the next five years we will find a greater area of land on which we will create our own purpose built School and Temple, an institute of esoteric training that will truly cater for the next generation of the Oak Dragon Tribe, the next generation of Sundance Teachers; a wonder of the modern world.

Moving into Being - Being Moved
My passion for body awareness/body prayer has led me in 24 years of exploration of being through movement, through the study within Sufism and the Dances of Universal Peace - and in the last 5 years I have worked in an un-named movement practice with teachers such as Adam Bradpiece and Suprapto Suryodarmo; this work is my current interest which I am deepening through ongoing personal practice.
More
My interest is an enquiry into self awareness and the authentic self through this formless form of movement. I explore relationship with Self, Ground, Space, Others and Heart - using the movements of our being to experience each, with the interest to simply find “what is true, true for you right now”.
No experience is needed to participate in this work, just a willingness to look, accept and drop into truth...whatever light/shade/darkness it may be.
